Prof. Bambang Brodjonegoro started his career as an academic at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia. Graduated as a Bachelor of Economics, he soon continued his education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, taking a Masters in Urban Planning, followed by a PhD in the same field — urban and regional planning. For his contribution to his alma mater, Prof. Bambang was appointed Dean in 2005. For more than two decades, Prof. Bambang devotes his knowledge and experience to the country in various roles. In his career in government, he has served as Minister of Finance (2014 - 2016), Minister of National Development Planning (PPN) / Head of the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) (2016 - 2019), and Minister of Research and Technology / Head of Research and Innovation Agency National (2019 - 2021).
As an economist, Prof. Bambang has deep expertise in the field of economics, especially development economics.
Prof. Bambang believes that innovation-driven economy will drive the nation's growth.
Among the 17 goals, Prof. Bambang especially has deep concern for the issue of climate change as well as new and renewable energy. This shapes how he runs Indonesia Forum Foundation.
As an expert on Urban and Regional Development. Prof. Bambang is experienced in designing cities or regions, including Indonesia’s new capital city.
